Our mission

OPEN: Research into the Psychedelic Experience Netherlands

The OPEN Foundation is an interdisciplinary initiative aimed at achieving the following goals.

  • To make psychedelics an accessible subject for both scientists and students who want to do research.
  • The acknowledgement of psychedelics as a legitimate academic subject at all Dutch universities.
  • To increase awareness of the (psycho-) therapeutical applications of psychedelics.
  • To stimulate media and politics to adopt an objective and evidence-based attitude towards psychedelics.

    LSD Docu Night Alkmaar LSD - Hofmann's Problem Child and Wonder Drug Monday 15 March, 7:30 pm. Harmonie Theater, Alkmaar After the success of our Ayahuasca documentary night, we decided to organize another docu-night. This time it will be about LSD. We will show two documentaries: Hofmann's Potion and LSD: Problem Child and Wonder Drug.

  • Lecture on Google: The Role of Sacramental Plants in Sustainable Communities in the Western Amazon

    Watch the full, 64 minutes long lecture by Paulo Roberto Silva e Souza, about three different communities living in the middle of the Brazilian Amazon. He describes how they handle their environment in a sustainable and respectful manner, inspired by the use of 'sacred', visionary plants. These enable these communities in protecting the vulnerable Amazonian ecosystem. The speaker also focuses on the question of how these communities can act as an example to 'us', with the problems that face modern Western society.
